A turtle, a trip to the countryside, and then Burke’s birthday to boot: Pumuckl and Eder have a lot going on this summer! Maybe too much—because with so many events happening, the two of them can barely find the time to talk properly. A major misunderstanding arises between Eder and Pumuckl, and their peaceful little world threatens to fall apart.

In answering the “Checker question,” he’s helped by scientists, good friends, and local people, such as Hanitra, a Madagascan biologist; Malte, a geologist; Samara, a student; Nicolaus, an archaeologist; and a grumpy employee at a recycling center.
